Does it work with HEVC (H.265) files from newer iPhones?

Yes — modern iPhone MOV files using HEVC encoding work fine. The audio extraction is codec-aware.

Are FaceTime recordings supported?

Yes. FaceTime call recordings export as MOV and convert to Markdown the same as any other video. Note: recording laws vary by jurisdiction — get all parties' consent.

Can I record directly on iPhone and upload from Files?

Yes — record in the Camera app, save to Photos as MOV, share to Files, then upload to our converter from your phone's browser.

What about ScreenRecord MOV files from QuickTime?

QuickTime Screen Recordings save as MOV with audio captured from system or microphone. Both convert cleanly. For collaborative async screen recordings, download the file and see Video to Markdown.

Will iPhone-specific metadata be preserved?

No — the output is a text transcript, not a video clone. iPhone metadata (geolocation, capture time) doesn't carry into the Markdown. Your filename and folder organisation are how you preserve that context.

iPhone Camera app records in MOV (HEVC or H.264). FaceTime call recordings export as MOV. QuickTime screen recordings on Mac save as MOV. Final Cut Pro exports MOV by default.

iPhone tip: switch to Most Compatible

If you record on iPhone and want broader compatibility, Settings → Camera → Formats → "Most Compatible" produces H.264 in MOV/MP4 instead of HEVC. Both work for transcription; H.264 is just smaller and more universally supported across editing tools.
