What counts as template chrome

Headers (the repeated text at the top of every page — usually the company name and document title), footers (page number, confidentiality marker, version number), watermarks ("DRAFT", "CONFIDENTIAL"), logos and graphic elements positioned outside the main text flow, page-number fields, date fields that auto-update. All of it is removed because none of it is part of the document's semantic content.

What's kept

Document title (typically the first heading after the title page), all body content, headings, lists, tables, embedded images that are inline with text (not in headers/footers), footnotes that reference body text. The output is the document's information content, ready for ingestion into a knowledge base, an AI corpus, or a static site.
