Be clear: NOT a real-time meeting bot
Tools like Otter, Fireflies, Fathom, and tl;dv auto-join your calendar meetings as a bot, transcribe in real time, and push notes to your CRM/Notion/Slack automatically. mdisbetter does NONE of that. We are a manual upload tool. You record the meeting yourself (using Zoom's built-in recorder, Teams recording, or any other capture method), download the recording, upload to mdisbetter for transcription. No real-time presence, no calendar integration, no auto-pushing notes anywhere.
When the manual workflow makes sense
Solo founders or small teams who don't want a recording bot in every meeting (some clients/prospects find them off-putting). Internal meetings where a permanent record is needed but a real-time bot is overkill. Recorded meetings you join later (you couldn't attend, watch the recording, want a transcript for reference). One-off interviews or recordings where setting up a meeting bot isn't worth it. Cases where the meeting platform doesn't support real-time bots and you only have the recording afterwards.
Workflow
Record your meeting using whatever your platform supports (Zoom, Teams, Google Meet all have recording built in). After the meeting, download the recording (most platforms email a download link or store it in cloud storage). Upload the audio/video file to mdisbetter — for video files, audio is auto-extracted. Get the transcript back in minutes. Use plain text for ctrl-F search through meeting content; use the Markdown variant for structured output with speaker labels and topic sections.
For full meeting-intelligence workflows, use a real-time bot
If you need automated meeting capture, real-time transcription, action-item extraction, CRM sync, and team-wide meeting libraries, the right tools are Otter Business, Fireflies, Fathom, or tl;dv. Their per-user pricing reflects the integration depth. mdisbetter is the cheap manual alternative when those features aren't needed.
